The Kansas City Royals have finished fourth or fifth in the American League Central the past seven years, and have won more games than they’ve lost just once since 1995.

The Kansas City Royals have signed first baseman Billy Butler to a four-year contract extension worth $30 million.
Butler is one of the few top young prospects in the organization that has panned out at the big league level.
The first baseman had his best season in 2010, hitting .318 and nearly reaching the 2,000 hit plateau.
The team is excited about having control over one of the best right-handed bats around, and the fact that Butler is only 24 makes it even better. ( Read More…)

The Kansas City Royals have traded pitcher Zack Greinke to the Milwaukee Brewers for a host of prospects.
Kansas City received four prospects in return, one of which is projected to be a starting shortstop.
The Royals started to entertain offers for Greinke in the offseason, deciding they would rather not pay him the next two years.
The club thought they would be better off trying to trade him and pulling the trigger if a team was willing to part with a lof of good, young players. ( Read More…)
